Overview
The Academic Excellence Scholarship is Boyce College’s most competitive and prestigious scholarship. It is available to incoming Fall students for their first year of study and is awarded based on:
- High school academic performance
- A written essay
- An interview
Scholarship Awards
- Top Award: Full tuition for up to 5 classes per Fall and Spring semester (30 credit hours total).
- Additional Awards: Scholarships up to $3,000, applied to tuition only.
- Awards are split evenly between Fall and Spring semesters.
NOTE: The application for the 2025-2026 academic year is now closed. The application for the 2026-2027 academic year will open in October 2025.
Applicants not selected will be automatically considered for the need-based General Scholarship.
Qualifications
To apply, students must meet all of the following:
- GPA + Test Score requirement: Students must obtain a minimum GPA based on their standardized test score according to the table below. Students only need to take one of the standardized tests.

- Example 1: A student who receives an ACT score of 26 and a GPA of 3.7 will be eligible to apply.
- Example 2: A student who receives an ACT score of 26 and a GPA of 3.5 will not be eligible to apply.
- Student must be enrolled full-time (12+ paid credit hours).
- Student must be taking courses at the Louisville campus. Online students are not eligible to apply. Students taking both on-campus and online courses are eligible to apply if enrolled in a greater number of on-campus hours than online hours.
- Student must be admitted into a degree program. Non-degree seeking students are not eligible to receive financial aid.
- Student must maintain good academic standing for eligibility. Students on academic warning, academic probation, or disciplinary probation are not eligible to apply.
Application Requirements
- Submit the following materials by the priority deadline of January 7, 2026 (for the 26-27 school year):
- Complete the College Board PROFILE (available in October 2025)
- Complete the Boyce Academic Excellence application:
- Submit a 2- or 3-minute video that introduces yourself to the Scholarship Committee. In the video, we ask that you answer the following: Who are you? Where are you from? Why would you like to be considered for the scholarship? Describe something you are passionate about.
- Submit a 500 word essay answering the question: How should one’s Christian faith influence the pursuit of excellence in education? As you answer the question, be sure to include the worldview and ethical dimensions of the question, as well as your own personal experience as a student.
- Submit an updated resume with professional, ministerial, and service-oriented involvement.
- All portfolio materials should be uploaded when you complete the scholarship application listed above.
Scholarship Timeline
Students interested in applying and interviewing for the Boyce Academic Excellence Scholarships need to submit all the required applications and profile information by January 7, 2026 to be considered for the scholarship.
After all the final candidates are selected, selected students will be invited to interview on-campus. Interviews for the 26-27 school year will be held on February 20-21, 2026. Hotel lodging for interviewees and their immediate family members will be available.

Please note:
- Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee selection or invite to interview.
- Students may receive only one institutional scholarship per semester.
- This scholarship cannot be combined with other Boyce College grants or scholarships.
