If you have a bachelor’s degree and desire to teach, the Proficiency Evaluation Program offers an alternative pathway to become a certified educator. Boyce College honors your professional experience and transforms it into a personalized plan for a fulfilling teaching career. Teaching is a missional calling. This program values your background, streamlines the process, and prepares you to make a lasting impact in the classroom with a biblical worldview.
In accordance with 16 KAR 5:030, the Proficiency Evaluation allows candidates to demonstrate their competency through prior education, professional experience, or proficiency assessments, and offers a flexible and individualized approach to certification.
Eligibility & Process
Eligibility
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.75, or 3.0 GPA from the last 30 hours completed.
Relevant work or life experience in the certification area.
Process
Submit completed Required Evidence for Proficiency Evaluation and meet with our Proficiency Program Administrator. If additional competencies are needed, an Educator Learning Plan (ELP) will be created, giving candidates up to two years to complete required coursework. Candidates who secure a verified teaching position may be eligible for a Proficiency Provisional Certificate, allowing them to teach while completing their certification.
