Course Registration Instructions

 

    1. Go to your MySBTS portal at my.sbts.edu. MySBTS is Southern Seminary’s information portal that students use to update their personal information, course registration, view and pay their tuition, view grades, order official transcripts, and access the SBTS directory.
    2. In MySBTS under “Student Tools”:
      • “Information Form”: Click on this tab to complete your Student Information form.  The form must be filled out each registration period before you can register for courses.
      • “Registration”: Click on this tab to view the course registration page. Throughout the semester, the Registrar will post important announcements and information at the top of this page. Please read these announcements carefully before registering. 
    3. On the Registration tab, students have the option to use filters.
      • Term: Summer/Fall/Winter/Spring
      • Sub-term: F1/F2 (Fall) or S1/S2 (Spring) for online and modular courses only
      • Location: Main Campus (Louisville), Online, Modular, Hispanic, etc.
      • School: Southern Seminary or  Boyce College
    4. Understanding Course Numbers and Sections
      • Course Numbers are different for each school:
        • Boyce College – Course Numbers are two letters and 3 numbers (e.g., CP100).
        • Master’s Courses – Course Numbers are 20000-59999.
        • Professional Doctoral Courses (DMin- DEdMin) – Course Numbers are 80000-80999.
        • Research Doctoral Courses (ThM-DMiss-EdD-PhD) – Course Numbers are 81000-99999
      • Course Sections:
        • WW = 100% Internet
        • MD = Modular course (requires two days on-campus attendance for lectures.
        • A,B,C,D = Different sections of the same courses
        • E = Evening course
        • H = Hispanic course
        • CT = Conference/Travel course
        • S2 = Jackson Extension Center
    5. Adding and Dropping Courses
      • Adding a course:
        • Click the blue plus “+” sign next to any course you want to enroll into.
        • After you add the course it will be listed in “My Courses” below the course listing.
        • If you don’t see the blue plus “+” sign, contact the Academic Records office for assistance at (502) 897-4209 or academicrecords@sbts.edu.
      • Dropping a course:
        • Go to “My Courses” and click the red minus “” sign in the Action column to drop the course.
        • If the term/semester has already started, you will need to follow the Course Drop/Withdrawal procedures by completing the Course Change Form.
    6. “My Courses”: Click on this tab under “Student Tools” to see a complete list of your courses with their times and locations.

Canvas

Within 24 hours after you register for courses through MySBTS, you can access your courses on Canvas. In Canvas, you will have access your syllabus (which includes your textbook list), assignments, and contact your professor or course grader. Syllabi and other course information may not be available until a few weeks before the start of your term.  Watch this video to learn more about Canvas.
