Where is Boyce Student Housing located?

Boyce Student Housing is located in Williams 110. Williams is located near Honeycutt and part of the Mullins Complex. Student Housing may also be reached by phone (502-897-4227) or email (


Is it mandatory to live on campus?

All Boyce students are required to reside on campus in designated housing. Anyone desiring to move off campus must receive an exemption from Boyce Student Life. Exemptions are typically given to: (1) married students; (2) students living with their parent(s) or legal guardian(s); (3) students 22 years old or older on the first day of classes; and/or (4) students who are both part-time (enrolled in less than 12 credit hours) and have completed at least 96 credit hours by the first day of classes. Exemptions are occasionally given to students who do not meet any of the above criteria but who are experiencing extreme hardships, but these exemptions are rare.

Students approved to live off-campus based on the student living with parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must remain in the home with the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) for the entirety of the semester. Similarly, students approved to live off-campus based on part-time status must remain part-time for the entirety of the semester. Students who violate the residency requirement may face disciplinary action (reprimand, probation, or withdrawal), a monetary fine, and be required to move on-campus or forfeit their student status.


Room Assignment Questions

 Is there a way to indicate my room preference?

Boyce Student Housing cannot guarantee room or roommate preferences. We try our best to honor requests and want to serve everyone in the best possible way. You may request your preferred room type and/or roommate on your housing application or contact Boyce Student Housing ( to update your preferences.


When will I receive my residence hall room assignment?

Typically, you can expect to receive a room/roommate assignment 2-3 weeks before move-in day.


What if I want to change my residence hall room assignment?

Room assignments cannot be changed, but please email or visit our office with any serious concerns about your room assignment.


Amenities Questions

As a resident, do I have access to any amenities on campus?

Students have access to the Health & Recreation Center.


Are there laundry facilities on campus?

Yes, we do have complimentary on-campus laundry facilities in the basement of each dorm building.


Where do I store my bicycle?

There are multiple bicycle racks around campus. Bicycles must be parked at one of these racks and tagged or it will be impounded by Campus Police. Click here for Campus Police’s policy regarding bicycle parking. You may request a tag from Boyce Student Life.


Is there public transportation nearby?

Lousiville offers public transportation via TARC. There is a stop on Lexington Road near Carver Hall. They charge S$1.75 for each adult. More information can be found here.


Does Boyce provide moving assistance?

We provide moving assistance for freshmen move-in on Orientation Day only.


Is there a weapons policy on campus?

It is the policy of Southern Seminary and Boyce College, in accordance with the KRS 237.115, that the possession of deadly weapons is prohibited on seminary owned property. The definition of a deadly weapon can be found here.


Move-In Process Questions

When can I move in?

First semester students are able to move in on Orientation Day, returning students typically move in the weekend before classes start. Boyce Orientation for the Fall 2019 Semester is August 15, 2019. Information for Boyce Orientation can be found at Boyce Student Life.


Can I move in before move-in day?

With the exception of extreme circumstances, students will not be allowed to move-in early. Contact Boyce Student Life via email if you have any questions. If you need housing accomodations on-campus before move-in day you can contact the Legacy Hotel at (502) 736-0600 for availability.


Can I move in after move-in day?

With the exception of extreme circumstances, students will not be allowed to move into their residence hall after their assigned move-in date. Please contact Boyce Student Life via email if you have any questions or special requests.

What items are allowed/not allowed in the residence halls and what items/furniture are provided in the rooms?

Can I pick up my residence hall key if I arrive after the Boyce Student life office is closed?

In order to maintain the safety and security of current residests as well as incoming residents, we are not able to leave keys for students after hours. You must visit Boyce Student life during regular business hours (M-F 8:30AM-4:30PM) to receive your key for your dorm room.


Do you have on-campus storage available?

We do not have any rental storage areas available for residents.


Can I stay in the residence halls over the winter/summer breaks?

If you are a current resident living in the residential halls, you may live in the residence halls during the winter/summer breaks (pending availability), provided you also contract for the subsequent term as well. At the mid-point of each semester, all residence hall residents are required to submit a form to Boyce Student LIfe which will describe your plans for the winter/summer break and the next semester. This is where the option for winter/summer housing will be made available.


During the winter/summer breaks, no meal will be provided. Rates for staying during breaks are published during the semester and before the upcoming break. Availabilty for winter and summer housing may be limited depening on space constraints and demand for housing. Housing will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.


Move-Out Process Questions

How do I check out of student housing?

To check out of the residence halls at the end of the semester you must schedule a time slot with your Resident Advisor.


What happens if I do not check out correctly?

Students who check-out improperly will be fines. Improper check-out includes, but is not limited to: checking out and returning a key not assigned to you at the beginning of the semester (or checking out for someone else; not returning your key to Boyce Student Life prior to leaving campus; not completing the check-out form prior to leaving campus; completing the check out form and returning your key but continuing to occupy your previously assigned room.


Meal Plan Questions

What does my meal plan consist of? 

The meal plans vary according to your preference for the number of meal scans that can be used at the Dining Hall and the amount of Flex dollars at Founders’ Café. Flex dollars can be spent dollar for dollar on a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, pizza, and beverages. Please visit the Dining Hall page found here in order to find out more information. 


The numbers aren’t adding up, will my meal plan be enough?

Though the number of meals does not work out to be 3 meals per day, most students have plenty of meals to last through the semester. On Sundays and Fall/Spring breaks, no meal plans are accepted, but Flex dollars may be used at Founders’ Café. Residence halls also have kitchens available for your convenience.


Is there an option to upgrade or change my meal plan?

Yes! All Boyce students desiring more meals and/or Flex dollars have the option to upgrade their meal plan within the first few weeks of class. Please contact Boyce Student Life.


New students may select their meal plan upon receiving an offer for housing in the residence halls. Returning students who desire a different meal plan than the previous semester may contact Boyce Student Life to change their meal plan. Boyce Student Life will also verify a student’s meal plan choice when they check-in on move-in day.


What if the meal plan cannot accommodate my food allergies?

Dining Services strives especially hard to serve those with food allergies; therefore, exemptions from the meal plan are rarely granted. Please feel free to contact Dining Services about accommodations that can be made to address your specfic situation. If Dining Services is unable to accommate your dietary needs, you may submit a detailed doctor’s note to Boyce Student Life and an exemption from the meal plan me be considered.
